Are you interested in a career in Local Government? If so, this could be the opportunity you are looking for as Wyre Council are looking for an IT Senior Systems Support Officer to join our IT & Telephony Services team.

The successful applicant will be supporting the IT Team in the provision of an efficient and effective IT infrastructure.  This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a team delivering the latest technologies to Council Services.

To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate excellent I. T. skills and a good understanding of the technical nature of computer software and hardware as well as an ability to communicate with people both verbally and in writing, in language they understand. 

Strong skills in Windows Server Infrastructure 2008/2010/2013/2016 are required with extensive knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO and other Microsoft domain service functions.  Experience in administering Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013/2016. 

Extensive knowledge of managing, deploying and maintaining VMware ESX/vSphere administration via vCentre is required.  An ability to manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012 is required and prior knowledge in a working environment of these technologies is essential. 

Experience in Scripting and Automation using Powershell, Orchestrator.  An understanding of IT Security Standards and ITIL.  Experience in backup technologies.  Current Linux technologies knowledge is advantageous.  Experience of multiple hardware platforms including Dell, NetApp. 

This is a challenging yet rewarding role for someone with multiple skillsets who wants to enhance these further.

Suitable training courses identified by the Council in line with the job role will be provided to support the successful applicant in the role.

As part of the selection process, applicants shortlisted for interview will also be required to undertake I.T. and literacy tests.
